Twitter’s new @Anywhere turns Web pages into conversations

March 15, 2010 by Kent Wakely Leave a Comment

There will no doubt be a lot of hype emanating from Twitter’s announcement at SXSW today of their new @Platform. There’ll be a lot of speculation and a lot of overblown expectations, but I think that the really interesting thing about it is that it will open up conversations between content creators and consumers in ways we haven’t seen before.

Sure, we can always — well, usually — email the author of something written on the Web, but there’s something about the informality and the transparency of Twitter that makes @Anywhere different.

What does this mean for businesses and organizations on the Web? It means that there’s a good chance that there’s going to be a lot more pressure on them to enter into dialog with their customers, stakeholders and audience than ever before.
